37 week belly shot! HUGE!! :)
Well, here is the ginormous belly shot. I should be big since his estimated weight is already 7lbs 2 ozs! I must say I was a little shocked when the ultrasound tech told us this. Keith pretty much guessed it right on. He said 7lbs and that I was in denial if I thought he weighed any less. I told him he was crazy and that Vince weighed around 5 1/2 to 6 lbs. I was WRONG! The doctor said I was 90% effaced and 1 cm dilated. She also said he was at a station -2 which just means that he is moving his way down and getting closer to my cervix. Yay! I have been having quite a few contractions today and have been feeling very crampy over the last couple of days so I figured something was going on. She wants to see me again on Thursday to check my blood pressure and urine again since it was a little high today. And she has ordered that I only work 6 hours a day which means I get to leave work at 2. Not sure how that's going to work, but I don't really care. :) She told me by the time next week comes around, if I haven't had this baby yet then she will probably take me out of work altogether. I only have 8 more days of school left since Monday is Memorial Day, but whatever she wants me to do. I'm not complaining. :) They hooked me up to the monitor today to see how Vince was doing and to see how my contractions were coming along. He is doing great. His heart rate was great and would go up quite a bit when I was having a contraction. I asked the nurse if it was normal for his little heart to beat that fast and she said, "Well, your heart would speed up if something was squeezing you too." So, totally normal. :) The only kind of alarming thing was that the ultrasound tech found fluid on Vince's left kidney. He said that this was more common in boys and that it was something that the pediatrician would need to follow up on since there is really nothing for them to do while he is in the womb. Dr. B told us that it could clear up on it's own or the pediatrician would need to do something to correct it. She told us not to worry yet. Hopefully it's not a big deal. So now, we wait. It could be any day or I could last until 39 weeks which is when she will induce me if I haven't had him yet. So we're talking 14 to 15 days at the most. We are definitely ready. We have done all that we can do and have prepared everything so all we need now is a baby. :) We can't wait to meet him but I think it's really just hit Keith and I that it could happen at any time. We both kind of had the deer in headlights look today. Quite funny. Oh, and I'm not posting any of our ultrasound pics because all we got again was a blurry blob of a face and something else that we have no idea what it is. He is keeping his good looks a secret until he comes out. Little toot!
Love,
Jen and Keith
Goodness 7 lbs 2 oz - he's going to be a big guy I bet - like his daddy. I'm so excited for you two and I can't wait to see his sweet face. You could do a couple of laps around the block and a few jumping jacks to help things along. :) Hang in there, won't be too much longer. I can't see that you've dropped any so he may not be quite ready yet. Whenever, we can wait - as long as it's not June 6 or 7 since I have jury duty on the 7th. Keep your fingers crossed! Love you both!
