6 Months

My baby boy is half a year old.  Wait, did I just say half a year?  No way!!  It has flown by.  Everyone always talks about how fast they grow up but you don't ever realize until you have one of your own.  I also can't believe it's been over a month since I last blogged.  I promise to be better. :)

He weighed 18lbs 11.5oz at his last doctor's appointment on November 30.  He was 27 in tall and in the 83rd percentile for both height and weight.  For those that don't know, that means that he weighs more and is longer than 83% of babies his age. :)  Looks like we are going to have a big one on our hands.  He weighs almost as much as his cousin Cirstyn did at a year old. The boy likes his food.

Speaking of food, we have really branched out recently.  We didn't really start feeding him consistently until a couple of weeks ago.  He would eat some cereal and fruit and maybe some veggies here and there when we thought about it.  But now, he eats twice a day along with his milk intake.  He LOVES squash.  He seems to like the savory stuff more than the fruity stuff.  Tonight for dinner he had squash and chicken and rice. NummNumm! Yechhh!  I can handle all the veggies and fruit but the meat is just nasty.  Oh well.  He eats it like a champ so it must taste good to him.

He graduated to a new bath tub yesterday.  He was too big for his old one.  We got the blow up ducky one.  He loved it!  He splashed and splashed and talked the whole time.  We also bought him some sippy cups. I don't know when we will use them but we have them when we are ready.  By the way, Babies R Us is almost always a mistake! :)  I spent over $100 yesterday just on things we needed for him.  And for the life of me I can't remember what those things were except for the bath tub! Go figure.

He sleeps through the night but he's been doing that for a couple of months now.  The great thing is that he's sleeping longer in the morning.  Our wake up time used to be 4:00-4:30 and now we are 5:30-6:00.  Woohoo!  I never thought I would be saying that 5:30 was late. What happened to me?? :) He goes down about 7 now.  I still rock him to sleep but he is now in his crib in his own room.  It only took 6 months but I was finally ready and we are all getting much more sleep.  I'm not waking up every couple of hours to get up and turn the stupid sleep sheep on and he doesn't get woken up by the dog thumping in the middle of the night.  Our dog, Mack, has some serious allergy issues right now and it drives us crazy!! :)  We still love him though.  Just not at 4 in the morning.  And by the way, I really love the stupid sleep sheep. :)  Along with the Soothing Seahorse.  I highly recommend that thing.  He loves it and it puts him in a trance or something because he will stare at it and then conk out. It's great.

I didn't get any pics of Thanksgiving.  I'm the worst mom ever!  I forgot my camera and all my poor baby did was cry the whole time anyway.  He had tummy issues and was not a happy camper.  I'm sure the rest of Keith's family was so happy that this was our year.  I mean, who doesn't like listening to a screaming baby in a room full of people. :) I will definitely get some pics at Christmas though with both sides of the family.  I've been really bad about pictures lately anyway.  I'm so tired when I get home and just haven't had the energy.  Work is a killer right now but in less than two weeks, I am off for two.  Can't complain there.  It's just all the stuff leading up to that break.

Vince loves his daddy! He just lights up when daddy comes home and plays with him.  Daddy makes him laugh like momma can't. I love watching the two of them interact. Keith is the best.  He does anything and everything I ask him to do and tons of things I don't and never complains about anything.  He really keeps me sane and the household running smoothly.  Love you babe.  I don't tell you enough but you truly are the best and we love you!

We go to the helmet doctor and to do his 6 month ultrasound for his kidney issues that he had when he was born tomorrow.  I'm almost positive we will need a helmet and I pray that his kidney stuff has cleared up on it's own and we don't have to do anything about it. :)  We can deal with the helmet though.  His head has gotten much better but it is still noticeably flat and misshapen.  I love him just the way he is and I think he's perfect but if he needs the helmet, then we are going to get him one.  I don't want to wish that we would have done something about it down the road.  We only have a little window of opportunity.  So that's where we are now.  I will update more later. I'll leave you with some recent pics of Mr. Boy. I love you Vincent James.  You make mommy and daddy's life so much brighter and more fun and we don't know what we did without you.
