Recent News...

We recently had two appointments on the same day.  One for the helmet guy and one for a renal ultrasound to check out Vince's kidneys.  The good news is we don't need a helmet.  The helmet guy said that he has perfect symmetry around his head it's just the top part that sticks up some and the back is just a little flat.  He said a helmet will not fix any of that and that he should just grow into his head.  I think I might have said something about what a "normal" child's head looked like and he asked me to define "normal".  Point taken.  My insurance had even given them the go ahead to get the helmet so I know the company had our best interest at heart. Yay for no helmet!

Now on to the not so good news.  His ultrasound still shows fluid on his kidneys and now shows an enlarged ureter tube. So our next step is to take him to get a VCUG.  Don't remember what that stands for but it's where they put a catheter into him and shoot dye in to see how all his functions are working and to see if his urine is refluxing back into his kidneys which is not good. I don't really know any more details than that.  I asked it it was necessary because I don't want to put him through any unneccessary things and she said that the doctor highly recommends it. They want to prevent any damage that might happen to the kidneys because that is irreversible.  I also asked it there is anything to worry about right this moment and she said no.  He's not showing any signs of distress or any symptoms of any kind of infection but we just need to be safe and make sure nothing serious is going on.  If he is having reflux into the kidneys then she said they might have to put him on a continous antibiotic to make sure he doesn't get a UTI.  So I guess we will see what happens. We would appreciate any prayers for this baby boy. Pray that whatever is wrong with his little body corrects itself and we have no  further problems in the future. :)

More good news for momma: NO SCHOOL for the next two weeks for me. Yay!!!  I can't wait to spend time with Vince.  Although, I am kind of cheating and he is staying with Mama Carmen on Monday and Tuesday of next week.  I need to do some serious Christmas shopping if I want to finish before Christmas so it is a must.  But after that, it's all us!  I can't wait for his first Christmas and to be with all of our family.  Having a child makes Christmas that much more exciting for us now.  It's always been my favorite holiday but now even more so.

Here are a few recent pictures of Vince being a big boy. He is growing so fast it's ridiculous!  He eats like a champ now.  He ate chicken, mixed veggies, and a whole jar of pear/blueberries on Tuesday! He laughed the whole time he ate the fruit and would leave his mouth open like a little bird wanting more, more, more! That's was the first time he had eaten that much in one sitting.  We love it!  Feeding him food is my favorite time of day. :)

If I don't blog before Christmas, which let's face it, I probably won't, I hope everyone has a very blessed and Merry Christmas and let us not forget the true reason for the season.  Jesus! Enjoy your families and I can't wait to see all the pictures of Christmas this year. Love to all.

  1. Great News about the helmet...not so great news on the kidneys :( It sounds like they are just taking all the appropriate precautions and that chances are he is a-ok since he hasn't been having issues...he of course is at the top of our prayer list...how soon do they want you to get in for that test? Love you guys!
