Time Keeps on Flying

I would like to say that I have been trying to write something on this blog for a long time but just haven't had the time. But that's not the case. Not about the time thing. There really is none of that. Truth is I haven't even thought about updating this blog for the last 3 months. Except when mom tells me to of course. :) Sorry Maddox! It's hard. I have been taking pictures so I have a lot of pictures to update with.

Life with two crazy boys is fun and exhausting. They are both nonstop. From the time they wake up until the time they go to bed. There is no such thing as peace and quiet anymore. Unless I lock myself in the bathroom to relax with a nice, hot bath. But even that gets interrupted within the first 10 minutes when Vince realizes I'm gone and asks daddy where I am. Even when daddy doesn't tell him, he still finds me. Relentless. That's what they are. I do get to run a couple of times a week. They can't follow me then. :)

Maddox is so completely different from Vince. His looks, personality, and attitude are all his own. Pretty sure he inherited all of his hard headed tendencies from the Callaway side of the family. I know that Maddox and Vince are different people obviously but I didn't think they would be like night and day. It's not a bad thing, just different. Maddox started walking about a month ago. He caught on real quick and now he practically runs through the house and outside. He chases his brother and his brother chases him. Maddox loves to follow Vince around the house and get into everything that big brother is into. Vince LOVES that. :)

Maddox is also trying to say a lot of words. Here are the words he is trying to say:
agua
momma
dadda
stinky
pizza
poopoo
ba (bottle) which we are getting rid of soon. Guess I'm just holding out because he's the last.
cheese
gaggy (That's his version of granny. Sorry mom! :))
ball
He eats almost anything as well. His favorite thing to eat right now are berries. Any kind. He loves them all. He will pretty much eat his weight in them. And pizza. But who doesn't like pizza?

He's wearing 12-18 month clothing. Mostly 18 but he can still fit into some 12 month pants and shorts. We haven't bought him any of his own shoes yet. He is wearing Vince's Nike Shox that are a size 6. His next shoes will be his own but they seem to be working fine for right now.

Maddox loves the outside. Like I'm sure most children do. He loves holding the basketball and throwing it while saying ball, ball, ball. He also likes to sit in the grass and eat all of the little things he can find. He's such a turkey because he puts things in his mouth that he knows he's not supposed to, then look at me to wait for the reaction, and when he sees me coming and saying no he laughs and tries to run away.
He seems to have a little eczema going on right now. That's what the doctor thinks it is anyway. Poor boy scratches it quite often. I have to keep hydrocortisone on it. Vince has really sensitive skin too. He's kind of grown out of some of it so I'm hoping Maddox will too. I had to give Maddox a little hair trim because his faux hawk was getting way too long.

Maddox loves giving slobbery kisses but other than that, he seems to have no time to cuddle. Only when he's sleepy. He's too busy trying to keep up with his brother or driving him crazy or getting into EVERYTHING! He is also the climber of the family. Pretty sure he will be trying climb out of his crib soon.

Now onto Vince who is 3 going on 16 it feels like sometimes.

He's wearing 4T clothes right now. He is all out of shirts. We recently bought him some pants and shorts since they were like highwaters and the shorts were way too tight. Now we have to get some shirts. I went through his entire closet and he had like 4 shirts left. It seems to happen all at once. One minute he has tons of clothes he can wear and then the next minute they are all too little. He got pretty chunky for a little bit. He still is but I think he's growing up now instead of just out. I had to tell mommy Carmen not to feed that boy tortillas with sour cream or butter anymore. :) He just got his hair cut which is always a lovely experience. He does well until they whip out the little razor. He is so ticklish that he just can't handle it. It took three of us to hold him still just so she could clean his hair up. Fun times! He's growing into a handsome little boy. He's got a mind of his own and he is in the stage where we are having to lay the law down. He thinks if he doesn't get his way that it is the end of the world and he doesn't want to listen to us. We were getting ready to leave for work and Mommy Carmen's the other morning and he didn't have time to pick out a toy. He threw the biggest temper tantrum I have ever seen. He wouldn't get in the car or stop crying and screaming. I'm pretty sure the neighbors woke up and thought I was murdering my child. I had to pick him up and put him in the car. He then refused to get in his seat. This went on for a while. I finally had him in the seat and I was trying to buckle the seat belt and he just screamed and screamed. I didn't know what to do. I knew that he sure wasn't getting what he wanted and that I would win I just didn't realize how exhausting and terrible it was going to be. I finally got him out of his seat, took him inside, and spanked him and told him that he was going to get in that car without a toy. I scared my own self with my tone of voice but he snapped out of it and did what I wanted. He then asked me for the iPad. Ha! Like that was going to happen. He was quiet the whole way to mommy Carmen's which is unheard of. I of course was in tears because he had NEVER acted like that before. He was almost uncontrollable. I got him out of the car and he told me he was sorry and that he wouldn't do that again. Then said, "Are you happy again mommy?" Needless to say, my day was pretty much crap after that. But I won and I think that was a turning point in his little world. Mine too.

Other than that, he is a pretty good kid. He's sweet and loving and for the most part is reasonable. :) Whoever said the terrible twos were awful should have added on the threes and fours as well.

Vince is eating better. He doesn't have a problem eating things he likes but if I made anything new for dinner, he wouldn't try it. Now he at least tries things for the most part.

He just started soccer about a month ago. It's hilarious watching him run around as well as watching the coach try to herd all these little 3 and 4 year olds into doing what he wants them to do.  We have had one game but it was rained out. He has one today so it should be interesting to watch. His jersey and shorts are so big on him. He seems to like it though which is good.

I think Vince might have asthma. He coughs a lot when he exerts himself. I always get looks from parents because they think he has a cough because he is sick. But he's not. I talked to his doctor and she said just to watch it. He doesn't have any other symptoms but it still worries me.

Vince is in the stage also where he talks incessantly. There is never any quiet time in this house. He asks question after question after question and no answer is ever good enough. I love that he is curious but be quiet already! :) Just kidding. A little. He is funny and loves to make Keith and I laugh. He likes entertaining his brother as well. He loves music and sings all the time. Vince loves going to church and playing with the kids. Our neighbors have 13 and 15 year old girls. Vince loves the youngest one. Her name is Marky and he talks about her all the time. Every time he sees her he has to go talk to her. She is really good about playing with him but she's 13 and I know he has to drive her crazy at times. It's cute watching him talk to her. He will walk up and say hi and then he just stares at her. It's the only time he is shy around anyone. It doesn't last long though.

Okay, I have to go wrangle children. Now for the million pictures that I will be putting in no particular order. See you in another 3 months or more. :)
