Went to the doctor last Wednesday for my 28 week check up along with my lovely gestational diabetes check. The drink wasn't that bad and I really didn't get nauseous or anything this time. I brought a snack with me so as soon as I had my blood drawn, I ate and was fine. I got a call back on Friday saying that I passed. Yay for me! Everything was great with Maddox and I, minus the million pounds I gained. :) Seems like it was around this time that I had a big weight gain with Vince too. Looks like I won't be making anymore oatmeal chocolate chip cookies with 8 pounds of butter in them anymore. Or ordering the 2lb chocolate cake from Saltgrass either. Yes you read that right. 2 pounds! They had me at chocolate cake so the 2 pounds was just a bonus. We took it home and ate on it for a couple of days. Apparently that wasn't a good idea. :) It was a good reality check for me. I was doing so good and then just went crazy for a couple of weeks there. So I'm trying to scale back on the amount of crap that I am ingesting. I do so good at school and then when I get home, it's like a free for all sometimes. I am always hungry. I think it's more mind over matter though. Anyway, enough about food.
Vince is doing good too. Unfortunately for us, and Mama Carmen I'm sure, Vince is scaling back on his naps already. He isn't really taking one at all at her house which makes for a lovely evening at our house. This boy runs around like a crazy person and you can tell it's from not enough sleep. He goes to bed between 7 and 8 but we have to wake him up early, around 5:45 every morning because Keith and I have to be at work early. So he's not really getting enough sleep at night and then with the no nap business, it's been crazy. He usually takes a nap on the weekends with us minus today. We tried for about 45 minutes and it just wasn't happening. We are not ready for no naps yet!
He carries on conversations with us now which is pretty cool. I asked him who was in Momma's belly the other day and he actually said Maddox. And then he touched my belly. Too sweet. Although today, he hit my belly when I asked him who was in there so I'm pretty sure the sweetness was just a phase. :)
On a different note, Keith and I have been going to church at Christ Chapel Bible Church in Fort Worth. We really like it as does Vince. He loves being at church and listening to the music man and playing with the toys. He throws Jesus in there every once in awhile, so that's good. :) He made his first piece of artwork a couple of weeks ago and it is hanging on our fridge now. I love it!
I went to Lifeway Christian store the other day to buy a CD and they gave me this 30 day devotional called "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young. The lady told me that there was a 365 day one but that these were just a preview. She told me once I read through it, that I would be back for the full year one. She was right. I had been looking for something to read every day. Keith and I go through spells where we are really into reading the Bible and then we get burnt out because we are just reading through the books and we don't really know what's going on sometimes. And of course we are selfish with our time and get wrapped up in things and T.V. shows that don't really matter. And I always go to bed feeling like I wasted all that time and got nothing out of it. So these are just short little devotionals but the cool thing about them is that they are written as if Jesus himself were talking to you. And they really hit home. Each one also has some Bible verses that go along with it and I really feel as if I am getting so much more out of the Bible than just reading straight through it. I don't know why I felt like sharing all this but I did.
Anyway, I'll leave you with what has become my favorite song of all time. I literally get chills every time I hear this song. I listened to it a lot in the car when Vince was younger and he loves it too. He calls it Holy Holy. So cute.
I go to the doctor again on October 16th so I'll update more then. I can't believe I'm already to the point where I'm going every 2 weeks now. This pregnancy has really flown by this time. Thank goodness! :)
