15 months...almost!

I have been meaning to get on here and update but with school just starting back and all that that entails, it just hasn't happened. I just finished my first week of school and so far it is going great. I have 3 classes again this year but all I'm teaching is Math. No more Social Studies. I like history and all, but 4th grade social studies does not interest me at all. Even though it is Texas history. I know, I know. I'm supposed to love that kind of stuff but I don't. Never have...never will. Okay, enough about me. On to Mr. Boy.

He has officially started walking. ALL OVER THE PLACE! He never wants to be picked up anymore which breaks mama's heart. Although it is helping her back. :) He just wants to go, go, go. We put a baby gate up between our entry hall and the kitchen. He still has tons of room to roam around without getting in trouble as long as we keep the doors to the rooms closed. But that's just not enough. And forget the toys. He doesn't want anything to do with them either. Just remote controls. He is obsessed with the buttons. Typical guy. Keith bought this baby gate online and it is great. It was only $30 and it doesn't hook into the wall. You just twist the ends and it puts pressure on the wall and doesn't move. The only bad thing about it is that the middle part is made of mesh.  Vince likes (or liked) to smush his face up against it and cry when he wanted to be picked up. So funny. Anywho, the dogs hated it. Well, Sarah didn't mind by Mackie wanted to be in the same room with us so bad. He would just sit and stare at us. I love the dogs, I really do. But I don't love the dog hair and we got tired of vacuuming every five seconds so the baby gate worked great for both reasons. Keep baby in and dogs out. They still had the rest of the house to shed in. :) I guess Mackie couldn't take it anymore. I was cooking dinner the other day. Vince wasn't even in that room. Nobody was. Keith and Vince were playing in the living room. One minute Mackie is standing at the gate, eyeballing it. And the next thing I know I hear this ripping noise and I look over there and Mackie has dove right through the baby gate and is now on the other side sitting in the corner, panting. He knew he was in trouble. He woudn't come when called and he sat in the corner for a good 30 minutes. So we didn't have a baby gate for a couple of days and it was exhausting chasing that baby around all over the house. :) Of course he loved it. Keith refused to buy a new gate even though it was only $30. Principle I guess. So we now have a sheet wrapped around it so the baby doesn't fall through it. We thought he wouldn't notice it. Yeah right! He did a head dive right through it right when we put it up. But it works now so we don't have to chase as much.

He has become a very picky eater. Not necessarily picky, but he just really won't eat much of anything. Even things he used to love. So we backed off on the milk and water a little and he started eating more but not near as much as he used to. I've heard that kids do that but when it's your own and you so desperately want them to eat, it sucks! So right now we go back and forth between big people food and baby food. He only eats baby food when he won't eat anything else and I mix it with cereal so he gets some sustenance. Like today, I made burgers and little fried potatoes. He ate the potatoes yesterday but would have nothing to do with them today. He ate some of the roasted asparagus I made though. Weird. So I pack him a variety of things to take to Mama Carmen's everyday hoping that he will eat some of it. She says he eats enough so I don't worry to much. And if you've seen him lately, he definitely doesn't look deprived! :)

We have been fighting this cough for almost 3 months now. Ever since we went in for his year check-up he's had a cough. It ebbs and flows and sometimes it sounds awful and happens all day and other times it only happens at night or every once in awhile. I've called the doctor 3 times asking them about it and they just tell me to do the norm. Humidifier, vicks, keep his nasal passages clear.  Blah, blah, blah. None of it is working. Right now it is pretty bad. Very snotty and coughing alot. I can't get him in to the doctor until Thursday. So we wait. Again. He ran a small fever on Sunday but today he was fine. I kind of get the feeling that some of it could be milk too. We started giving him organic cow's milk then too. So I don't know. We have our 15 month check up on the 7th so we might be able to wait until then. If it gets better.

Vince is quite the talker. He repeats so many things that we say now. I'll see if I can remember all of them.
water-watee
bottle- ba
fish
brush
pee-pee
apple
momma
daddy
ding dang dong (from Frere Jaques sp)
e-i-e-i-o from Old McDonald

Hi (hieeee)

Mackie (backie)
bye bye

I'm sure there are more but these are the ones that come to mind right away. He's got quite the vocabulary for a 15 month old. It's all that T.V. that I let him watch. :) JK

That's all for now. I must go to bed. I'll leave you with a few pics.

So silly but I love it!

Scout's like, "Hello?? I'm over here!" :)

Little turkey. That's what he likes to do to his books.

And we love to shut doors now. As a matter of fact we just slammed our finger in the door yesterday. Did that deter us. No way!

Love my books

Not only do I like to read them, I love to throw them as well.
