Friday, June 3rd, my baby turned 1. It seems so crazy to me that I now have a one year old and it's only been one year since I was waiting on him to come into this world. I wouldn't change one thing about our year together. To me, it has been perfect. Of course things get crazy from time to time but that happens without a baby too.
When he woke up that morning, Keith and I showed him the gift that we bought him. I found this airplane rocker online that is soft and cushy that also plays music. So we decided to get him that for his birthday. He liked it right away. We have to help him get on and rock but he just smiles the whole time. Pretty soon he will be doing it all on his own.
Granny Jan came later that day so she could help me with the party and she got him a neat little thing. I don't know what you would call it but here is a picture to help.
He really liked it too as you can see. :) So mom and I went shopping for the food that night and made some of it when we got home. I had already bought decoration stuff online so that was taken care of and the cake was ready for us too. All owl themed of course. :) I figure this is the only time I will get to pick the theme since I'm sure he will like something next year, so I went with owls. Mandi had already made a couple pages in my scrapbook saying "Who's Turning One?" and he was an owl for Halloween so we went with it. The decorations came from Etsy and mom printed them off for me on cardstock and then I cut them out and put them together. It was a lot of work but worth it to me because I couldn't find any decorations that I liked.
Mom and I got up early on Saturday morning and started cutting up fruit and making the sandwiches. Then Keith and I went to get the cake and balloons. We got back and started putting the decorations up and making everything nice. People started arriving at 2 and we visited and Vince played with some buddies and it was nice.
At about 2:45, Vince decided that it was time to open presents. He crawled over to the pile of presents and started digging. :) We took that as a cue. He was really good while opening all of his goodies. I was kind of nervous that he might have a meltdown since he hadn't really had a good nap that day. But he did great! He got so much awesome stuff. He has enough clothes to get him through the summer and then some. He got some cool swim gear to use in the pool and some swim trunks and shirts. He got quite a few toys and a toy portrait. Whatever his favorite toy is, we can send in a picture and a lady will paint a portrait of it. :) How cool is that? Overall, it was a great birthday party and we felt very blessed to have so many people come and celebrate Vince with us.
Then it was on to cake. He didn't really know what to do with it but once he got a taste he seemed to like it.
Thank you everyone that came and those that sent something if you couldn't be there. My baby is 1! I hope this next year doesn't fly by as fast as the first one did. :)
This post wasn't very good word wise but it took me all day of stopping and starting to get to this point. I will update more on Mr. Vince later this week. Just wanted to get it all down before I forgot about it.
