23 Days Already!!

My baby is already 23 days old, or 3 weeks 2 days if you are counting that way.  He has brought so much joy and richness into our lives that I feel like he has always been here with us.  Don't get me wrong, Keith and I have had a great time together with just us two but before I got pregnant it felt like something was missing.  Not really something, but someone.  We were definitely ready for the next chapter in our lives.  And we are loving every minute of it.  He is already growing so fast.  Keith texts me during the day to ask how we are and I can tell that he misses us.  I send him pictures through the phone and I know he would love to be here with us but we are so lucky that he has a job right now.  It got kind of scary there for a minute. :)

My days are full of feeding and holding Vince.  He's still too young to really play yet.  I know all the books tell you to sleep when the baby sleeps.  Yeah right!  I get to do that maybe once a day but there are things that I want to get done around the house or I just can't help but hold him.  He won't be this little very long and I want to soak up every minute of it!  All he wants to do right now is eat, sleep, and poop.  He is alert and awake for a little while each day where he is not doing one of these three things and I love it.  He has started to make eye contact with me and I can't even begin to describe how it feels when he looks at me and I know that he is actually seeing me.  I can't imagine how great it will be when he starts smiling at us.  He does have a little personality already though.  He gets a little fiesty when he's upset or even when he's feeding.  He makes this humming noise when he has his paci in or when he's feeding.  It's really funny because it sounds like he's trying to talk to us and let us know how it is. :)   He is a really good baby though and only complains when something is wrong.  So far anyway.

His umbilical cord fell off about a week ago and Granny Jan gave him his first bath while Keith and I went to dinner at On the Border.  We lasted all of 1 hour and 15 minutes before we decided to go back home.  :)  Mom wanted to give him a bath and I didn't care since we will be giving him baths for quite some time.  He seems to like the water.  He loves to have his hair washed.  We gave him his 3rd bath today and I took a couple of pictures of it.  He is so stinkin cute!!  I am a little biased but whatever.

We needed some stuff at Sam's today so we went on our first official outing.  We tried to go to Sam's and then Keith's parents house on Thursday but we only made it to Keith's parent's.  It's a lot different trying to go somewhere with a baby, that's for sure!  He is like a little dictator.  We love it though.   He did really good.  We were only there for 30 minutes but by the time we drove there, got the stroller ready, shopped, put the stroller up and him and the groceries, and drove home we were gone for almost 2 hours!  Sheesh.  I'm going to have to get up super early every morning when schools starts just to make it to school on time.  :)

Here are some pictures that I took recently and some that I took today.  I can't believe that he is almost 1 month old.  Before I know it, it will be time to go back to school and take him to day care.  I sooo am not looking forward to that.  Maybe that will change in the next couple of months but I doubt it.  If I could stay home for a year with him, I so would.  In a perfect world right??  We love you little Vincent.  You have made mommy and daddy happier than they ever knew they could be.

Love you all,
Jen

  1. Those are great!!! I think the pants are funny too. Keith was so sweet to cover up Vince's hoo hoo in the bath. He will appreciate that when he's older. I like "sleeping away, hanging with daddy and striking a pose" the best. He's such a cute baby and I MISS holding him.
